Empowering Minority Entrepreneurs: All Access at the Turkey Day Classic
The Alabama Collective proudly hosted, “All Access at the Turkey Day Classic: Entrepreneurs Edition,” on November 22nd at the Lab on Dexter in Downtown Montgomery. Mayor Steven Reed opened the event with inspiring remarks about Montgomery’s support for entrepreneurs and the city’s wealth of unique opportunities. He highlighted The Alabama Collective’s critical role in creating a hub for minority entreprenuers, a sentiment echoed by Charisse Stokes, the Collective’s Executive Director.
“All Access is not just a gathering, but a vibrant testament to the entrepreneurial spirit thriving in Montgomery,” says Stokes. “Our goal with this event is to help eliminate barriers that minority entrepreneurs often face by providing both access to accurate information and to small business service providers with helpful resources.”
The highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring esteemed industry leaders: Tammy Knight Flemming of Square Foot Consulting; Yolanda B. McCain from the Air Force Program Executive Office; Dr. Nichole Thompson, Director of Lab on Dexter; Willie E. Watson III representing Hope Federal Credit Union; and Austin Goble from REACH Women’s Business Center. Their diverse expertise led to an enlightening conversation with a round of Q&A for attendees to ask specific questions.
Beyond business-focused activities, attendees enjoyed a lively atmosphere with music from a live DJ, delicious brunch, and refreshing drinks, fostering a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
Most importantly, the sense of community was phenomenal. It was heartwarming to see members of our community come together, not just for business growth, but to celebrate and strengthen the bonds that make us a united and resilient collective.
